School externships provide the opportunity to apply the medical billing and coding skills learned in the Orlando, Marietta & Lilburn campuses’ classroom in actual medical settings. The medical billing and coding degree program provides additional training in coding from the operative report and ICD-10 CM coding for long-term care. You will also work closely with electronic health records (EHRs) to organize and manage medical billing information in all areas of healthcare.
Medical Billing and Coding program graduates process, maintain, compile and report patient information to electronic medical records and healthcare insurance claims. They are responsible for meeting HIPAA confidentiality guidelines, keeping personal information secure and private. A medical billing and coding program graduate will use coding parameters set forth by government including ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding methods.
