Course Description

Day 1: Taylor Fascial Fundamentals

This workshop will give participants an introduction to the “Taylor Technique” style of myofascial assessment and treatment, and how to incorporate this work into their current practice. Specifically, strain/counterstrains, using limbs as levers, pin and drag, skin rolling, pick up and roll are all shown in several areas of the body, focusing on palpation of superficial and deep layers of fascia, and differentiating between the two.
Learning about the elements of fascia and how to dialogue on this topic with prospective and current clients, will help participants incorporate this work into their current massage practice, while managing client expectations. Therapists will become proficient at using these techniques everywhere in the focused hands-on practice in palpation, is a skill that will be demonstrated throughout the seminar, in addition to body mechanics.

Day 2:How to Give a Full Body Myofascial Treatment

This combines many of the techniques learned in other Taylor myofascial workshops, to form a more generalized full body “protocol”. A full sequence of treatment ideas is shown starting in prone, with discussion on what to do if you find areas of concern/complaint that need more specific techniques applied (yet still be able to fit everything into one session). The supine portion of the session starts on the lower body, and ends at the head and neck, once again addressing possible areas where some clients might need more specific work, but keeping the therapist focused on achieving a full body result in the time allotted.
