SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor's Lumbosacral Hip Complex; Knee\, Ankle\, and Foot Lower Extremity Approaches
DESCRIPTION:Day 1:Lumbosacral Hip Complex\nThis workshop will provide therapists with a new approach to effectively treating & preventing Lumbrosacral-Hip Complex pain. Therapists will review myofascial assessment by discussing intake information\, as well as using observation\, movement\, palpation\, neurological assessment\, referral pain and special tests to translate a patient’s clinical info into an effective treatment plan.\nThe majority of time is spent in hands-on practice of techniques for direct and indirect treatment of the lumbar spine\, ribcage\, pelvis\, lower and upper extremities\, as they all relate to back and hip pain. Supine and prone lower and upper extremity stretch protocols are shown\, as well as how to apply proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation if necessary. In addition\, very specific lumbar/trunk\, hip/thigh\, and ilial/ischial release techniques will be highlighted. \nDay 2: Knee\, Ankle\, and Foot Lower Extremity Approaches\nThis workshop will provide therapists with different Myofascial approaches to effectively treat & prevent Knee\, Ankle & Foot pain. Therapists will briefly review Myofascial assessment\, by looking at ways to take a client’s intake information\, and translate it into an effective treatment plan. The majority of time is spent in hands-on practice of techniques for direct and indirect treatment of the lower extremity (a great continuation of the Lumbrosacral Hip workshop).\nMyofascial treatment & joint mobilization of the lower extremity is a necessary therapeutic approach to address sacroiliac dysfunction\, back\, hip\, knee\, & ankle pain.\nTreatment techniques for the lateral\, anterior\, and “back” fascial lines are shown\, with very specific direction in effectively accessing the gastrocnemius-soleus complex and Achilles’ tendon. In addition\, approaches to treating the Crural\, Hamstrings\, Patellar Fascias\, & Fascia Lata of the thigh are shown. Superior & inferior knee joint release\, plantar fascial treatment\, joint mobilizations/osseous techniques for the lower extremity\, and correcting pes cavus/planus round out the list of topics covered. \nClass Info\nTimes:\nDay 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2:10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $275.00 \n \nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. If there is a documented emergency\, you may transfer after to a later class by this instructor.\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee.\nPicture ID required at check-in \nIf minimum enrollment is not met\, the class may be subject to cancellation. \nCarrie Taylor\nNCBTMB#710407-100

SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor's Whiplash and Cervical Disc Herniations // Lumbar Disc Herniations and Sciatica
DESCRIPTION:Day 1: Whiplash and Cervical Disc Herniations\nThis workshop is an in depth look at disorders that develop as a result of whiplash injuries\, particularly as they apply to cervical hyperlordosis or kyphosis\, two very different but common presentations post injury.\nTherapists will review the muscles\, bones\, nerve plexi\, and other connective tissuestructures involved in the anterior\, lateral\, and posterior cervical spine.\nHow to do a thorough assessment\, and to then transcript that information into an effective treatment plan for the patient is emphasized.\nAdvanced treatment techniques for cervical disc herniations are demonstrated\, with plenty of time to practice and gain master of this delicate region. \nDay 2: Lumbar Disc Herniations and Sciatica\nLumbar Disc Herniations are becoming more and more common in our sedentary\, office working culture. People are sitting for extended periods more than ever\, and effectively reversing the position of the lumbar lordotic curve\, which encourages discs to bulge posterolaterally. Coupled with lack of exercise and weakened core stabilization\, True Sciatica symptoms result. This can cause everything from mild lower extremity weakness and instability\, to severe debilitating lumbar and Sacro-Iliac joint pain\, with accompanying nerve symptoms down the postero-lateral aspect of the thigh and leg.\nThe key to effective treatment for the patient\, is teaching core stability exercises\, and re-establishing a normal lumbar lordosis via pelvic repositioning (aka “the MacKenzie Technique” or yoga “cat/cow”).\nTherapists will learn postural realignment techniques\, and transversus abdominus activation exercises\, that they can apply to patient treatment and home care. Specific “lordosis creating” manual techniques are emphasized & demonstrated\, as well as pelvic bone realignment and balancing. SI Joint\, sacrotuberous ligament\, the often overlooked Quadratus Femoris muscle\, and gluteal muscle focus\, go a long way to accomplishing successful pain relief. With a lot of hands-on practice both giving and receiving from both class participants and from Carrie Taylor\, therapists will feel more confident when confronted with this frustrating disorder in clinical settings. \nClass Info\nTimes:\nDay 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 16\nPrice: 320.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nLocation: Gwinnett College Roswell 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee.\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class.
