SUMMARY:Craig Knowles - Lymphatic Drainage Part 3 - Surgeries and Tools
DESCRIPTION:Lymphatic Massage is a type of gentle massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph\, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart. SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor's Facial Fundamentals & HOPMNRS Approach to Assessment
DESCRIPTION:Day 1:Fascial Fundamentals\nThis workshop will give participants an introduction to the “Taylor Technique” style of myofascial assessment & treatment\, and how to incorporate this work into their current practice. Specifically\, strain/ counterstrain\, using limbs as levers\, pin & drag\, skin rolling\, pick up & roll are all shown in several areas of the body\, focusing on palpation of superficial and deep layers of fascia\, and differentiating between the two.\nLearning about the elements of fascia and how to dialogue on this topic with prospective and current clients\, will help participants incorporate this work into their current massage practice\, while managing client expectations. Therapists will become proficient at using these techniques everywhere in the body\, and the focused hands-on practice in palpation\, is a skill that will be demonstrated throughout the seminar\, in addition to body mechanics.\nThis class is the platform for the other 9 topics in the level 1 series\, and gives the healthcare practitioner a firm foundation in applying palpative skill effectively. DVDs and downloads are available for all ten topics in this myofascial certification series\, as well as ten level 2 DVDs and ten level 3 DVDs now available at www.taylortechniquesinc.com. SUMMARY:Craig Knowles KMT - Lower Extremities
DESCRIPTION:The basis of Kinetic Musculorehab Technique is a modality that can be used by and profession that deals with biomechanical dysfunctions of the muscular system. When it comes to this type of trauma\, all muscles respond the exact same way. They contract. If the muscles are contracted\, the individual loses not only range of motion\, but also muscle strength. The basis of Kinetic Musculorehab Technique is to learn how to treat muscles using their plane of action. This course teaches how to merge passive range of motion with other muscle release techniques\, allowing relief from pain through the elongation of the muscle fibers. This technique helps in breaking apart adhesion and scar tissue that limit muscle flexibility and length. By including ROM with treatment\, you will be able to use less pressure and get the desired results. \nWe will be covering common muscular injuries such as Piriformis Syndrome\, Psuedo Sciatica\, Shin Splints\, Plantar Fasciitis\, among others. \nThis course will be 12 hours and cover two days. \nBecause this course is 12 hours hands on\, please bring sheets and lotion to class.\nNCBTMB Approved Provider # 451292-10 \nSupplies\nTwo twin set of sheets\nLotion and cream (No oil based products) \nClass Info\nTimes: Day 1: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm // Day 2: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm\nClass: KMT – Lower Extremities\nCEU’s: 12\nPrice: $225 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nClass Capacity: 24\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee. \nLocation: Gwinnett College – Lilburn\, 4230 Lawrenceville Hwy\, Ste 11\, Lilburn\, GA 30047 \nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions. \nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. SUMMARY:Craig Knowles - Lymphatic Drainage Part 1 - Techniques
DESCRIPTION:Lymphatic Massage is a type of gentle massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph\, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart. The lymph system depends on intrinsic contractions of the smooth muscle cells in the walls of lymph vessels and the movement of skeletal muscles to propel lymph through the vessels to lymph nodes and then beyond the lymph nodes to the lymph ducts which return lymph to the cardiovascular system. Lymphatic Massage is a very gentle manual treatment that is proven to reduce swelling by dramatically enhancing the function of the lymphatic system. SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor's TMJ Dysfunction and TOS; Breast Fascia and Pectoral Girdle
DESCRIPTION:Day 1:Fascial Fundamentals\nThis workshop will take therapists through a detailed HOPMNRS assessment of the TMJ and Cervical Spine\, then progress into treatment ideas to release the TMJ/Thoracic Outlet and surrounding fascial tissues.\nFocus will be on release of the Trapezius & SCM\, which share the same fascial sheath\, and how to differentiate this superficial layer from the deeper muscles of the cervical spine. How to use the ear\, which connects directly to the TMJ\, to facilitate opening of the joint indirectly\, as well as direct treatment modalities to the temporomandibular joint itself will be shown\, via soft tissue and joint mobilization techniques. Release of the sternal\, clavipectoral\, deltopectoral fascias\, and the galea aponeurotica within the context of affecting the upper tracks of the deep front fascial line are valuable tools in resetting postural contributors to these disorders.\nMastoid\, jugular foramen\, and hyoid/throat modalities will also be shown\, as well as direct treatment procedures for the temporalis\, masseter\, medial and lateral pterygoids. A cylindrical approach to treating the many compartments of the cervical spine comfortably will be the primary focus\, as TMJ Disorder and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome are dramatically improved by postural balance in this region.\nPain-free intra-oral work using gloves\, will round out the many treatment approaches taught during the class\, as well as discussion of how to effectively work within the pain tolerance of the patient in this region.\nDealing with somato-emotional release will also be covered\, to prepare the therapist for this potential when treating this disorder. \nDay 2: Breast Fascia and Pectoral Girdle\nThis myofascial approach to treatment of the breast\, pectoral girdle\, and related tissues\, will provide participants with the confidence to perform hands-on techniques in a sensitive\, yet highly under-treated area. Learning to work on scar tissue\, musculature\, and fascia post-surgery\, or following any other trauma\, is an effective means to improve posture for the client. Improving the pliability and flexibility of scar tissue has also been shown to significantly decrease pain\, especially in the neck and shoulder girdle. Work will be demonstrated draped\, undraped\, or through clothing/sheet to provide options for patient & therapist comfort. \nClass Info\nTimes:\nDay 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2:10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $275.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. SUMMARY:Craig Knowles - Lymphatic Drainage Part 2 - Routines
Lymphatic Massage is also known to improve the quality of sleep\, decrease pain\, calm the nervous system\, and benefit the immune system. This technique will greatly benefit your clients who have: \n\nsoft-tissue injuries;\nrheumatoid arthritis;\nhigh stress levels/anxiety disorders;\nfibromyalgia or chronic fatigue;\nsurgical trauma/edema;\nmigraine headaches;\ncancer/oncology diagnosis;\nsinus congestion or allergies;\nmild\, medically-uncomplicated lymphedema;\nclients in hospice or palliative care;\n\nPart 2 will: \nIncorporate a review of Part 1 and then picks up where we left off. This portion focuses on the application of lymphatic drainage techniques to fully clear each part of the body. We will cover how to clear the full anterior and posterior body as well as the time requirements for each.\,/p> \nLymphatic Certifications\nAfter completing Part 1 and Part 2\, practice\, practice\, practice. When you feel you are ready\, retake PART 2. On Day one of the class there will be a chance to practice\, to iron out any last kinks. On Day 2 when the full body practical is performed\, you will be evaluated on the skills you perform. IF you show you are competent and safely applying all the techniques taught in Part 1 and Part 2\, you will receive a Lymphatic Massage Certification. Attendance alone does not guarantee a Certification\, you must demonstrate proper application of ALL techniques. \nBecause this course is 12 hours hands on\, please bring sheets and lotion to class.\nNCBTMB Approved Provider # 451292-10 \nSupplies\nTwo twin set of sheets\nLotion and cream (No oil based products) \nClass Info\nTimes: Day 1: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm // Day 2: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm\nClass: Lymphatic Drainage Part 2 Routines\nCEU’s: 12\nPrice: $225 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nClass Capacity: 24\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee. SUMMARY:Arnold Askew - Understanding and Transforming Chronic Pain
DESCRIPTION:Retraining Neural-Circuits & Neuromuscular Habits\n Would you like your practice to be more “medical” based?\nWould you like your practice to help transform people’s lives?\nWould you like your practice to be easier on your body? \nSome people get a massage because it “feels good.” Others come to “feel better.” Still others come because they want to be better. They want to improve. They want to get well. Helping clients get better and heal are the things that this class is about; learning the concepts and techniques to help people move from a life of pain to comfort\, efficient movement\, self-awareness\, and autonomy. I invite you to join us in this training to become a professional in Understanding and Transforming Chronic Pain. \nLearn the latest neuroscience about chronic pain and the conclusive evidence about which therapies prove most effective. Find how this information can clarify the difference in the “types” of chronic pain that people suffer from. Understanding this difference will determine how successful you are in assisting your clients in their recovery. With this new information we will build a practical model for identifying and treating the complexities of chronic pain. First\, we’ll look at how to rewire the neuro-circuitry that causes chronic pain and then we’ll consider the role somatic education plays in changing inefficient patterns of dysfunction. Therapeutically we’ll use awareness-based touch and movement to awaken proprioceptive centers and stimulate new neurological activity. \nEmphasis in this class will be placed on the kinetic chain of the spine\, ribs\, and extremities. We will explore how to palpate and assess the relative health of these complex relationships. We will also look at how the curves and spirals of the spine affect each other and how areas of dysfunction appear and feel. Strategies will be explored to assist easier\, less encumbered movement throughout the length of the skeleton. A variety of injuries\, pathologies and conditions will also be discussed. Lastly\, we will look at how to bring our clients into a healthier relationship with their own healing. Our goal will be to help them become more autonomous and secure in living with whatever conditions may be a part of their lives. \nBecause this course is 12 hours hands on\, please check the supplies list.\nApproved by NCBTMB & Florida Board \nSupplies\nMat or blanket for movement explorations on the floor\nWear Clothes that doesn’t restrict movement \nClass Info\nTimes: Day 1: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm // Day 2: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm\nClass: Understanding & Transforming Chronic Pain\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $300 Until July 2026; $350 after July \n\n \n \n \n \n\nClass Capacity: 24\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee. \nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell\, 1455 Old Alabama Road\, Ste 160\, Roswell\, GA 30076 \nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions. \nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class.
