SUMMARY:Wolfgang Luckmann - Myofascial Release - Basic and Advanced - With Muscle Energy Testing (M.E.T.) and Cupping for the Beginner and Seasoned Therapist
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nDid You know? “Most of us prefer harmony\, but we may need the repatterning that disharmony can stimulate.” – Margaret E. Newman – Nursing Theorist. \nDeveloped by Osteopaths and East European physical therapists\, this course embodies many of the major developments in cutting edge bodywork technique. The course allows you to move away from confrontational pain management techniques and neuromuscular trigger point techniques as well as the boredom of endless repetitive massages. We will focus on a comprehensive approach that is safe\, cost efficient and effective. Instead of focusing on spot work and isolated muscle groups we approach the client from a body- mind -spirit viewpoint. \n Areas of Expertise Taught:\nPostural Fascial Release\nGentle Joint mobilization techniques for the spine\nStructural changes\nTreating inflammatory muscle pain as in Fibromyalgia and arthritis and chronic myofascial conditions\nMedical Qigong for self-healing and healing the client. \n You Will Learn: \nHow to develop palpatory skills in detecting hard tonus and bad “energy cysts”\nHow to reduce and eliminate neuropathic muscle conditions\, when Trigger Point Therapy isn’t enough.\nHow to connect with the fascial lines of tension and communicate release to the whole body.\nHow to help return the individual’s adaptive capacity by increasing space and mobility throughout.\nHow to restore three-dimensional balance and return the body’s structure to a normal vertical orientation with gravity.\nHow to release the Dura Mater which protects the Spinal Cord.\nHow to use cupping to release hardened fascia.\nHow to reduce recovery time with TWO easy sessions and make the healing gentle and lasting. The principle of this release therapy is based on the ARNDT- SCHULZ LAW of pharmacology\, which states that : “GENTLE STIMULATION ENHANCES THE PHYSIOLOGICAL PROCESS OF HEALING\,BUT STRONG STIMULATION STOPS AND REVERSES THE PROCESS OF THE BODY HEALING ITSELF.” \nCOURSE INFO\nTimes: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm \nClass: Myofascial Release – Basic and Advanced – With Muscle Energy Testing (M.E.T) and Cupping \nCEU’s: 18 \nPrice:$310 \nEnrollment Closed\nClass Capacity: 20\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee. \nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell\, GA 1455 Old Alabama Road #160 Roswell\, GA 30076 \nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions. \nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. SUMMARY:Craig Knowles - Lymphatic Drainage Part 1 - Techniques
DESCRIPTION:Lymphatic Massage is a type of gentle massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph\, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart. The lymph system depends on intrinsic contractions of the smooth muscle cells in the walls of lymph vessels and the movement of skeletal muscles to propel lymph through the vessels to lymph nodes and then beyond the lymph nodes to the lymph ducts which return lymph to the cardiovascular system. Lymphatic Massage is a very gentle manual treatment that is proven to reduce swelling by dramatically enhancing the function of the lymphatic system. Lymphatic Massage is also known to improve the quality of sleep\, decrease pain\, calm the nervous system\, and benefit the immune system. This technique will greatly benefit your clients who have: \n\nsoft-tissue injuries;\nrheumatoid arthritis;\nhigh stress levels/anxiety disorders;\nfibromyalgia or chronic fatigue;\nsurgical trauma/edema;\nmigraine headaches;\ncancer/oncology diagnosis;\nsinus congestion or allergies;\nmild\, medically-uncomplicated lymphedema;\nclients in hospice or palliative care;\n\nPart 1 will: \n\n\n\nDescribe basic anatomy\, physiology of the lymph system and main body fluids.\nExplain the scientific principles behind Lymph Drainage Therapy\, and why the lymphatic system plays a crucial role in recovering from disease and enhancing health.\nExplain the importance of the lymphatic system and how it relates to blood and other body fluids.\nDescribe main indications and contraindications.\nPerform techniques that help you move lymph and interstitial fluid through the body to cleanse it of toxins.\nDescribe the main specific locations of lymph nodes and lymph vessels.\nPut treatments and self-help techniques right away into practice.\n\n\n\nLymphatic Certifications\nAfter completing Part 1 and Part 2\, practice\, practice\, practice. When you feel you are ready\, retake PART 2. On Day one of the class there will be a chance to practice\, to iron out any last kinks. On Day 2 when the full body practical is performed\, you will be evaluated on the skills you perform. IF you show you are competent and safely applying all the techniques taught in Part 1 and Part 2\, you will receive a Lymphatic Massage Certification. Attendance alone does not guarantee a Certification\, you must demonstrate proper application of ALL techniques. \nBecause this course is 12 hours hands on\, please bring sheets and lotion to class.\nNCBTMB Approved Provider # 451292-10 \nSupplies\nTwo twin set of sheets\nLotion and cream (No oil based products) \nClass Info\nTimes: Day 1: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm // Day 2: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm\nClass: Lymphatic Drainage Part 1 Techniques\nCEU’s: 12\nPrice: $225 \nCLASS FULL\nJoin the Wait List\nClass Capacity: 24\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee. \nLocation: Gwinnett College – Lilburn\, 4230 Lawrenceville Hwy\, Ste 11\, Lilburn\, GA 30047 \nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions. \nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor's TMJ Dysfunction and TOS; Breast Fascia and Pectoral Girdle
DESCRIPTION:CLASS CANCELLED\nDay 1:Fascial Fundamentals\nThis workshop will take therapists through a detailed HOPMNRS assessment of the TMJ and Cervical Spine\, then progress into treatment ideas to release the TMJ/Thoracic Outlet and surrounding fascial tissues.\nFocus will be on release of the Trapezius & SCM\, which share the same fascial sheath\, and how to differentiate this superficial layer from the deeper muscles of the cervical spine. How to use the ear\, which connects directly to the TMJ\, to facilitate opening of the joint indirectly\, as well as direct treatment modalities to the temporomandibular joint itself will be shown\, via soft tissue and joint mobilization techniques. Release of the sternal\, clavipectoral\, deltopectoral fascias\, and the galea aponeurotica within the context of affecting the upper tracks of the deep front fascial line are valuable tools in resetting postural contributors to these disorders.\nMastoid\, jugular foramen\, and hyoid/throat modalities will also be shown\, as well as direct treatment procedures for the temporalis\, masseter\, medial and lateral pterygoids. A cylindrical approach to treating the many compartments of the cervical spine comfortably will be the primary focus\, as TMJ Disorder and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome are dramatically improved by postural balance in this region.\nPain-free intra-oral work using gloves\, will round out the many treatment approaches taught during the class\, as well as discussion of how to effectively work within the pain tolerance of the patient in this region.\nDealing with somato-emotional release will also be covered\, to prepare the therapist for this potential when treating this disorder. \nDay 2: Breast Fascia and Pectoral Girdle\nThis myofascial approach to treatment of the breast\, pectoral girdle\, and related tissues\, will provide participants with the confidence to perform hands-on techniques in a sensitive\, yet highly under-treated area. Learning to work on scar tissue\, musculature\, and fascia post-surgery\, or following any other trauma\, is an effective means to improve posture for the client. Improving the pliability and flexibility of scar tissue has also been shown to significantly decrease pain\, especially in the neck and shoulder girdle. Work will be demonstrated draped\, undraped\, or through clothing/sheet to provide options for patient & therapist comfort. \nClass Info\nTimes:\nDay 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2:10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $275.00 \nCLASS CANCELLED\nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. SUMMARY:Craig Knowles: KMT - Upper Extremities
DESCRIPTION:The basis of Kinetic Musculorehab Technique is a modality that can be used by any profession that deals with biomechanical dysfunctions of the muscular system. When it comes to this type of trauma\, all muscles respond the exact same way. They contract. If the muscles are contracted\, the individual losses not only range of motion\, but also muscle strength. The basis of Kinetic Musculorehab Technique is to learn how to treat muscles using their plane of action. This course teaches how to merge passive range of motion with other muscle release techniques\, allowing relief from pain through the elongation of the muscle fibers. This technique helps in breaking apart adhesion and scar tissue that limit muscle flexibility and length. SUMMARY:Craig Knowles - Lymphatic Drainage Part 2 - Routines
This technique will greatly benefit your clients who have: \n\nsoft-tissue injuries;\nrheumatoid arthritis;\nhigh stress levels/anxiety disorders;\nfibromyalgia or chronic fatigue;\nsurgical trauma/edema;\nmigraine headaches;\ncancer/oncology diagnosis;\nsinus congestion or allergies;\nmild\, medically-uncomplicated lymphedema;\nclients in hospice or palliative care;\n\nPart 2 will: \nIncorporate a review of Part 1 and then picks up where we left off. This portion focuses on the application of lymphatic drainage techniques to fully clear each part of the body. We will cover how to clear the full anterior and posterior body as well as the time requirements for each.\,/p> \nLymphatic Certifications\nAfter completing Part 1 and Part 2\, practice\, practice\, practice. SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor - How To Give a Full Body Myofascial Session and Self Care Stretching and Strengthening for the Manual Therapists
DESCRIPTION:Day 1 How to Give a Full Body Myofascial Treatment\nThis workshop combines many of the techniques learned in other Taylor myofascial workshops\, to form a more generalized full body “protocol”.\nA full sequence of treatment ideas is shown starting in prone\, with discussion on what to do if you find areas of concern/complaint that need more specific techniques applied (yet still be able to fit everything into one session).\nThe supine portion of the session starts on the lower body\, and ends at the head & neck\, once again addressing possible areas where some clients might need more specific work\, but keeping the therapist focused on achieving a full body result in the time allotted. \nDay 2: Self Care Stretching and Strengthening for the Manual Therapists\nThis workshop is designed to promote proper biomechanics to prevent injuries\, while working as a manual therapist. Discussion and demonstration of the various hydrotherapy techniques learned while in massage school\, is an important application of the knowledge required for Self Care and management of the various injuries that may occur during a manual therapy career. Demonstrations on correct table height and postural form/stance while giving treatment sessions is emphasized\, in order to give therapists the basis for a long & pain free career. There will be coaching & practice on diaphragmatic breathing\, using your core correctly while you work\, as well as muscle strengthening exercises and stretches relevant to manual therapists. These principles can also help you coach your patients successfully in pain management\, hydrotherapy guidelines\, and stretching & strengthening. \nClass Info\nTimes: Day 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $275 \n\n\n\n\nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell – 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. SUMMARY:Craig Knowles KMT - Lower Extremities
DESCRIPTION:The basis of Kinetic Musculorehab Technique is a modality that can be used by and profession that deals with biomechanical dysfunctions of the muscular system. When it comes to this type of trauma\, all muscles respond the exact same way. They contract. If the muscles are contracted\, the individual loses not only range of motion\, but also muscle strength. By including ROM with treatment\, you will be able to use less pressure and get the desired results. \nWe will be covering common muscular injuries such as Piriformis Syndrome\, Psuedo Sciatica\, Shin Splints\, Plantar Fasciitis\, among others. \nThis course will be 12 hours and cover two days. \nBecause this course is 12 hours hands on\, please bring sheets and lotion to class.\nNCBTMB Approved Provider # 451292-10 \nSupplies\nTwo twin set of sheets\nLotion and cream (No oil based products) \nClass Info\nTimes: Day 1: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm // Day 2: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm\nClass: KMT – Lower Extremities\nCEU’s: 12\nPrice: $225 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nClass Capacity: 24\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee. SUMMARY:Craig Knowles - Lymphatic Drainage Part 3 - Surgeries and Tools
