SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor: Advanced Myofascial & Osseous: Cylinder of the Thigh / Leg
DESCRIPTION:Cylinder of the Thigh and It’s Compartments\nThis advanced Myofascial osteopathic workshop is geared towards practitioners who are ready to elevate their palpation and treatment skills to the next level.\nThis class is an osseous and myofascial look at treatment of the cylinder of the thigh & its compartments\, delving into the intermuscular septa which separate the muscle groups\, treating the femur and its periosteum\, & addressing the ilio/ischio/pubofemoral ligaments of the hip. Time will be\nspent developing a deep palpative sense of the specific muscles within each of the compartments of the thigh\, as well as cultivating an ability to successfully work with the periosteum of the femur. In addition\, bursal structures of the hip will be palpated\, and treatment strategies are covered for ischiogluteal\, trochanteric\, and iliopectineal bursae. Popliteal bursa/“Baker’s cyst” treatment is also covered\, as part of a complete strategy for improving knee pain\, where many patients complain\nof hamstring tendon sheath swelling. Therapists will be able to access these tendons at the popliteal space\, using hydrotherapy to reduce swelling\, and fingertip pin & drag with fascial strain to decrease adhesions in these tendons\, as well as specific quad stretching to improve knee flexion for patients with this disorder. Meralgia Paraesthetica pathology is also covered\, with participants learning how to safely decompress the femoral triangle via inguinal ligament release\nand other manual approaches\, to reduce the troublesome symptoms of this disorder. As always\, emphasis is on developing palpative skill\, anatomical knowledge\, and the critical thinking necessary to facilitate therapeutic mastery in manual therapy. \nCylinder of the Leg and It’s Compartments\nThis advanced myofascio-osteopathic release workshop is geared toward practitioners who are ready to elevate their palpation and treatment skills to the next level.\nThe Focus of this class is the anterior\, lateral\, superficial\, and deep compartments of the lower leg\, in addition to other disorders commonly seen from the knee down.\nChondromalacia patella/lateral patellar tracking syndrome\, shin splints (true march fracture as opposed to anterior compartment syndrome)\, lateral ankle sprain/strain\, achilles tendonitis/plantar fasciitis\, & Morton’s neuroma disorders are some of the topics covered.\nManual treatment strategies including myofascial and osseous work\, joint mobilizations\, hydrotherapy modalities (to be applied within treatment and as home care)\, and stretching/strengthening programs are practices\, to help patients who may be suffering from these ailments.\nThe ability to successfully treat disorders of the lower extremity is an enormously important skill\, as patient ability ambulate and weight bear without pain is significant to quality of life. \nClass Info\nTimes: Day 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm \nCEU’s: 16 \nPrice: $299 \nCLASS CANCELLED\nClass capacity: 20\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee. \nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell\, GA 1455 Old Alabama Road\, Suite 150 Roswell\, GA 30076 \nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions. \nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. SUMMARY:Experience Zen as a Lifestyle - Jill White-Huffman
DESCRIPTION:Self-Care For Massage and Bodywork Therapists \nCourse Description\nAS MASSAGE AND BODYWORK THERAPISTS\, much of our energy is dedicated to the physical well-being of others. However\, we often neglect our self-preservation. A healthy routine prevents stress\, burnout\, transference\, countertransference\, compassion fatigue\, and chronic pain while caring for others. \nWith over 30 years of experience as a licensed counselor\, mental health counselor\, marriage and family therapist\, and licensed massage and bodywork therapist in Greensboro\, Jill White-Huffman has a knack for understanding others’ needs. It’s easy to get sidetracked\, leading to increased stress or burnout.\nA consistent\, healthy routine is essential for preventing internal disruptions caused by triggers\, vulnerabilities\, and barriers. These factors can affect our mind-body awareness and ability to experience the present moment fully. \nTo support healthcare professional\, caregivers\, and others looking for effective self-care strategies\, Hill created Experience Zen as a Lifestyle\, a Path Toward Mindful Self-Care\, to help individuals feel calmer\, more grounded\, and balanced while caring for others. \nJill combines her Mindful Self-Care curriculum with Zen teaching to present “Experience Zen.” She offers practical\, easy-to-understand techniques for integrating regular meditative breathing exercises and therapeutic stretching workouts into daily routines\, which can help manage stress and prevent burnout. \nMindful Self-Care is an essential practice that requires training our minds daily through healthy home self-care practices\, similar t how we develop plans to condition our bodies. Remembering that you must take care of yourself before you can care for others is vital. \nCost includes a handout\n@Copyright 2025 Thai Hand and Foot Reflexology by Jill White-Huffman.
