SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor's TMJ Dysfunction and TOS; Breast Fascia and Pectoral Girdle
DESCRIPTION:CLASS CANCELLED\nDay 1:Fascial Fundamentals\nThis workshop will take therapists through a detailed HOPMNRS assessment of the TMJ and Cervical Spine\, then progress into treatment ideas to release the TMJ/Thoracic Outlet and surrounding fascial tissues.\nFocus will be on release of the Trapezius & SCM\, which share the same fascial sheath\, and how to differentiate this superficial layer from the deeper muscles of the cervical spine. How to use the ear\, which connects directly to the TMJ\, to facilitate opening of the joint indirectly\, as well as direct treatment modalities to the temporomandibular joint itself will be shown\, via soft tissue and joint mobilization techniques. Release of the sternal\, clavipectoral\, deltopectoral fascias\, and the galea aponeurotica within the context of affecting the upper tracks of the deep front fascial line are valuable tools in resetting postural contributors to these disorders.\nMastoid\, jugular foramen\, and hyoid/throat modalities will also be shown\, as well as direct treatment procedures for the temporalis\, masseter\, medial and lateral pterygoids. A cylindrical approach to treating the many compartments of the cervical spine comfortably will be the primary focus\, as TMJ Disorder and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome are dramatically improved by postural balance in this region.\nPain-free intra-oral work using gloves\, will round out the many treatment approaches taught during the class\, as well as discussion of how to effectively work within the pain tolerance of the patient in this region.\nDealing with somato-emotional release will also be covered\, to prepare the therapist for this potential when treating this disorder. \nDay 2: Breast Fascia and Pectoral Girdle\nThis myofascial approach to treatment of the breast\, pectoral girdle\, and related tissues\, will provide participants with the confidence to perform hands-on techniques in a sensitive\, yet highly under-treated area. Learning to work on scar tissue\, musculature\, and fascia post-surgery\, or following any other trauma\, is an effective means to improve posture for the client. Improving the pliability and flexibility of scar tissue has also been shown to significantly decrease pain\, especially in the neck and shoulder girdle. Work will be demonstrated draped\, undraped\, or through clothing/sheet to provide options for patient & therapist comfort. \nClass Info\nTimes:\nDay 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2:10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $275.00 \nCLASS CANCELLED\nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. If there is a documented emergency\, you may transfer after to a later class by this instructor.\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee.\nPicture ID required at check-in \nIf minimum enrollment is not met\, the class may be subject to cancellation. \nCarrie Taylor\nNCBTMB#710407-100

SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor's Facial Fundamentals & HOPMNRS Approach to Assessment
DESCRIPTION:Day 1:Fascial Fundamentals\nThis workshop will give participants an introduction to the “Taylor Technique” style of myofascial assessment & treatment\, and how to incorporate this work into their current practice. Specifically\, strain/ counterstrain\, using limbs as levers\, pin & drag\, skin rolling\, pick up & roll are all shown in several areas of the body\, focusing on palpation of superficial and deep layers of fascia\, and differentiating between the two.\nLearning about the elements of fascia and how to dialogue on this topic with prospective and current clients\, will help participants incorporate this work into their current massage practice\, while managing client expectations. Therapists will become proficient at using these techniques everywhere in the body\, and the focused hands-on practice in palpation\, is a skill that will be demonstrated throughout the seminar\, in addition to body mechanics.\nThis class is the platform for the other 9 topics in the level 1 series\, and gives the healthcare practitioner a firm foundation in applying palpative skill effectively. DVDs and downloads are available for all ten topics in this myofascial certification series\, as well as ten level 2 DVDs and ten level 3 DVDs now available at www.taylortechniquesinc.com. Level 1 textbook is available in downloadable and hard copy formats on amazon/kindle! \nDay 2: HOPMNRS Approach to Assessment\nThis course offers an in depth look at Assessment and Treatment from a myofascial perspective. Therapists will be taken through a very detailed process on how to approach assessing a client\, from History/intake\, to observation\, movement and posture analysis\, as well as palpation and neurological assessment\, referral pain recognition\, and special tests when needed. This approach is designed to increase the therapist’s confidence and expertise when assessing a client\, giving them the necessary information to form a highly effective treatment plan. \nClass Info\nTimes:\nDay 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2:10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $275.00 \n\n\n\n\nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. DESCRIPTION:Day 1: Whiplash and Cervical Disc Herniations\nThis workshop is an in depth look at disorders that develop as a result of whiplash injuries\, particularly as they apply to cervical hyperlordosis or kyphosis\, two very different but common presentations post injury.\nTherapists will review the muscles\, bones\, nerve plexi\, and other connective tissuestructures involved in the anterior\, lateral\, and posterior cervical spine.\nHow to do a thorough assessment\, and to then transcript that information into an effective treatment plan for the patient is emphasized.\nAdvanced treatment techniques for cervical disc herniations are demonstrated\, with plenty of time to practice and gain master of this delicate region. \nDay 2: Lumbar Disc Herniations and Sciatica\nLumbar Disc Herniations are becoming more and more common in our sedentary\, office working culture. People are sitting for extended periods more than ever\, and effectively reversing the position of the lumbar lordotic curve\, which encourages discs to bulge posterolaterally. Coupled with lack of exercise and weakened core stabilization\, True Sciatica symptoms result. This can cause everything from mild lower extremity weakness and instability\, to severe debilitating lumbar and Sacro-Iliac joint pain\, with accompanying nerve symptoms down the postero-lateral aspect of the thigh and leg.\nThe key to effective treatment for the patient\, is teaching core stability exercises\, and re-establishing a normal lumbar lordosis via pelvic repositioning (aka “the MacKenzie Technique” or yoga “cat/cow”).\nTherapists will learn postural realignment techniques\, and transversus abdominus activation exercises\, that they can apply to patient treatment and home care. Specific “lordosis creating” manual techniques are emphasized & demonstrated\, as well as pelvic bone realignment and balancing. SI Joint\, sacrotuberous ligament\, the often overlooked Quadratus Femoris muscle\, and gluteal muscle focus\, go a long way to accomplishing successful pain relief. With a lot of hands-on practice both giving and receiving from both class participants and from Carrie Taylor\, therapists will feel more confident when confronted with this frustrating disorder in clinical settings. \nClass Info\nTimes:\nDay 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 16\nPrice: 320.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nLocation: Gwinnett College Roswell 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\n*Refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee.\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class. SUMMARY:Carrie Taylor - How To Give a Full Body Myofascial Session and Self Care Stretching and Strengthening for the Manual Therapists
DESCRIPTION:Day 1 How to Give a Full Body Myofascial Treatment\nThis workshop combines many of the techniques learned in other Taylor myofascial workshops\, to form a more generalized full body “protocol”.\nA full sequence of treatment ideas is shown starting in prone\, with discussion on what to do if you find areas of concern/complaint that need more specific techniques applied (yet still be able to fit everything into one session).\nThe supine portion of the session starts on the lower body\, and ends at the head & neck\, once again addressing possible areas where some clients might need more specific work\, but keeping the therapist focused on achieving a full body result in the time allotted. \nDay 2: Self Care Stretching and Strengthening for the Manual Therapists\nThis workshop is designed to promote proper biomechanics to prevent injuries\, while working as a manual therapist. Discussion and demonstration of the various hydrotherapy techniques learned while in massage school\, is an important application of the knowledge required for Self Care and management of the various injuries that may occur during a manual therapy career. Demonstrations on correct table height and postural form/stance while giving treatment sessions is emphasized\, in order to give therapists the basis for a long & pain free career. There will be coaching & practice on diaphragmatic breathing\, using your core correctly while you work\, as well as muscle strengthening exercises and stretches relevant to manual therapists. These principles can also help you coach your patients successfully in pain management\, hydrotherapy guidelines\, and stretching & strengthening. \nClass Info\nTimes: Day 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $275 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell – 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class.
\nClass Info\nTimes:\nDay 1: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm; Day 2:10:00 am – 6:00 pm\nCEU’s: 14\nPrice: $275.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nLocation: Gwinnett College – Roswell 1455 Old Alabama Road Suite 160 Roswell\, GA 30076\nClass capacity: 20\nContact: Please call us at (770) 381-7200 if you have any questions.\nRefunds: No refunds within 2 weeks of class.
