Most therapists are probably just looking forward to taking a moment away from CEU's but if you want to get a head start on your CEU's next time rather than wait until the last minute again, take a look at what we have in 2015.

We've already put an outstanding line-up of courses together for 2015 and there will be more to come. Check out our different classes below!

Ira Wikel - IRT Series - Ilial, Lumbar, & Thoracic Mobilization Workshop (This is not a chiropractic class)

Description:

This is not a chiropractic class.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to improve your clients structure, balance and movement through the use of specific Muscle Energy, Joint Mobilization and Myofascial release techniques.
I look at the hips [the ilium] as the beginning point in the process of structural balance. Over 30 muscles attach on and around the hip joint. Ida Rolf called the hip “the joint that determines symmetry”. I view the hips as the foundation for structural balance. I look at the functional and structural health of the hip joint in all clients-not just those in pain.
From this starting point we will also assess and correct ILIAL mal-alignment, anterior/posterior rotations and in/out flares. LUMBAR and THORACIC sidebends, rotations and other dysfunctions. The outcome will help with postural distortions, muscular tonicity, low, mid and upper back pain.
We will utilize a combination of soft tissue manual therapy techniques designed to be effective, designed to be efficient and designed to be pain free.

Integrated Restoration Techniques {IRT} is the brain child of Ira Wikel, LMT. A massage therapist since 1982, Ira had been looking for techniques that would produce excellent results without taxing his body. After several hundred hours of continuation education , he put together this “greatest hits” package based on the therapeutic options that work for him. He continues to use them in his practice today and looks forward to teaching more massage therapists these methods.

This is a hands on class please wear comfortable, loose clothing and shorts as we will be both assessing and correcting both the hips and thoracic spine.
Massage oil is not required.
Please bring sheets, both top and bottom

All of Ira’s classes come with a 50 page workbook.

Description:

In this workshop we will be Assessing, Balancing and Correcting the CERVICAL SPINE the SACRUM and the CRANIAL VAULT. This is more than a Cranial/Sacral class. Dawn Lewis - Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique

This course will be held at the Sandy Springs campus.

Course Options

SMRT:  Thigh & Knee
Course Description:  SMRT:  Thigh & Knee class will help you to work the anterior and posterior thighs and knees, as well as the iliofemoral joint ligaments.  You will learn to successfully work with:

  • Hypertonic IT bands
  • Femur head imbalances
  • Adductor and quadriceps imbalances
  • Hamstring tension
  • Knee pain and inflammation
  • Chondromalacia Patella
  • ACL replacements
  • LCL and MCL injuries

Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique (SMRT) is a series of passive contractions that allow therapists to release muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue quickly, easily, and with little pain to you or the client.  Benefits of SMRT include:

  • natural realignment of joints by directly releasing specific ligaments and joint structures
  • pain free resolution of trigger points
  • swift and painless removal of adhesions
  • disruption of the positive feedback loops of pain in the nervous system:
  • speaking directly to the proprioceptors of the nervous system
  • SMRT has an incredibly calming effect and decreases nervous system hyper-sensitivity
  • extreme stimulation of the lymphatic system:
  • SMRT's subtle manual maneuvers activate lymph and interstitial fluid circulation
  • rapid elimination of excess fluid, toxins, and waste
  • unblocking of meridians and removal of stagnant energy

All of this is done quickly, with almost no pain to the client, and in a way that is tremendously easy on your body.  Because we have disrupted the pain loops, settled the parasympathetic nervous system, created almost no additional pain, and brought the area back to homeostasis, the results of an SMRT treatment last.

Class is NCBTMB approved for 12 CE's

You will need to bring a set of sheets, whatever oil/cream/lotion you are comfortable working with, and an anatomy atlas.

Ira Wikel - Myofascial Release (MFR) - Integrated Restoration Techniques Series

Description:

Fascia is a layer of fibrous tissue that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, and nerves, binding some structures together while permitting other to slide smoothly over each other. This class is a Direct Fascial technique with thirty specific routines included.

Fascia is continuous with specialized elements of fascia such as tendons and ligaments. Tendons and ligaments share with the general fascia collagen fibers, elastic fibers, cellular elements and ground substances. Mechanorecptors and proprioceptors are found in these specialized elements and report to the brain and spinal cord information on body position and movement.

By working with the fascial envelope you can begin to correct any mal-alignments of the body including: postural, positional, work or sport related, as well as physical and emotional issues.

Integrated Restoration Techniques is the brain child of Ira Wikel, LMT. A massage therapist since 1982, Ira has been looking for techniques that would produce excellent results without taxing his body. After thirty years of continuing education classes, he put together this ‘greatest hits’ package based on the therapeutic options that work for him. He continues to use them in his practice today and looks forward to teaching more therapists these methods.

This class is a Direct Fascial technique class designed to align the body from top to bottom, front to back and side to side. This class is designed to be PAIN FREE.

ALL OF IRA'S CLASSES COME WITH A 50 PAGE WORKBOOK.
